CNC milling rounds out the machining capability at USA Weld Express, adding the precise features that fabricated and turned parts need to become finished components. From mounting faces to complex pockets, we machine to tight tolerances and integrate the results into complete fabrication packages.
What Is CNC Milling?
CNC milling uses a computer-controlled rotating cutter to remove material from a fixed workpiece, producing flat surfaces, slots, pockets, bores, and complex 3D features. Where turning handles round parts, milling handles prismatic and featured geometry — the holes, faces, and profiles that give a part its function. Because the tool paths are fully programmed, intricate features are machined accurately and repeated exactly across a production run, from the first part to the last.
Precision Features on Any Part
Milling is how we add the details that matter: bolt-hole patterns, mounting faces, keyways, clearance pockets, counterbores, and machined flats. These features often determine whether a component fits its mating parts, mounts square, or assembles cleanly. Our mills hold tight tolerances on every feature, and each job is verified against your drawing through our QA/QC process before it ships or moves into assembly.
Materials We Machine
We mill carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and alloy grades. Each material has its own ideal speeds, feeds, and tooling, and our operators tune the setup to deliver clean features and a good surface finish without sacrificing accuracy. From soft aluminum to tough alloys, we machine to the same tight, repeatable standard.
Milling That Completes Fabrication
A lot of our milling supports larger fabrication work. We machine mounting faces flat and true on weldments, drill and bore accurate bolt patterns into structural parts, and finish machined surfaces on skid frames and equipment bases. Doing this in-house means a fabricated assembly can go straight from the weld shop to the mill for final machining — no outside vendor, no shipping delay, and a single team accountable for the finished tolerances.
Turning and Milling Together
Many parts need both turning and milling — a round body with milled flats, a shaft with a keyway, a fitting with a cross-hole. Because we run lathes and mills side by side, we can move a part between operations quickly and hold the relationship between turned and milled features accurately. That combined capability lets us produce complete, complex components in one shop rather than splitting the work across vendors.
Why Choose USA Weld Express
